LUTHER — Bitter winds, snow, sleet and rain didn’t stop Luther residents from enjoying target practice for a good cause during the Luther Community Turkey Shoot on Saturday at the Luther Lions Club Hall.

There was a total of 17 rounds shot with 10 participants each. Winners for closest shot at the target received frozen turkeys.

“The weather didn’t help us. We went from rain to snow to sunshine, but we did have good participation,” said Edye McCarty, Luther Lions Club member.

There also were 50/50 raffles and food basket raffles.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Luther Lions Club and the Luther United Methodist Church steeple fund.
