LUTHER — Area youth will have an opportunity to enjoy fun educational activities, programs and keeping their minds exercised during the Luther Area Public Library Summer Reading Program.

Each Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., starting today, there will be different programs with this year’s theme, “Libraries Rock!”

This week’s program is “Let’s Rock this Disaster.” The Red Cross will share how to prepare for a disaster.

On Thursday, July 19, kids will rock out with Punk Rock Joel, who brings music to life with comedy. On Thursday, Jily 26, kids will get to enjoy live animals with Dynamic Assemblies. On Thursday, Aug. 2, youth will have fun with rock painting and rock candy.

Thursday, Aug. 9, concludes the reading program with an end of program party. Subs will be served and youth will get to shop at the library store with reading bucks they earned. Youth can earn reading bucks with weekly reading and participation.

Children ages 5 through 7 can sign up for the reading program. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
