Library puts out the call for local bakers

LAKE COUNTY — Baldwin’s Pathfinder Community Library has announced that it will sponsor another gala Bake Sale.

The event has been scheduled for the weekend of May 18 and 19 — which coincides with the annual “Blessing of the Bikes.” The sale will begin promptly at 9 a.m. each day and will continue till everything is sold out.

These popular bake sales have proved to be a big hit with the community in recent years. Library boosters are always glad for the opportunity to show their support — and word has gotten around that the baked goods on display are invariably fantastic — Baldwin boasts some outstanding cooks. The upcoming sale will be the first time, however, that the Pathfinder has planned such a fundraiser for “Bikes” weekend.

As usual, all proceeds go to the library general fund. Organizers are asking local chefs to donate pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, biscuits, and the like. Unless the weather is dreadful, the baked goods will be on display on tables outside the Pathfinder, which is located on Michigan Avenue next to the Baldwin Business Center.

Meanwhile, the Pathfinder reminds its patrons that the “Pet Food for Fines” campaign is still going on. Readers who have overdo books may clear their debts by donating dog or cat food (either canned or bagged) and all will be forgiven! This project supports the Lake County Animal Shelter.
