Learning some little known facts to expand your knowledge

The menu for the Luther site of the Lake County Meals Program for the week of February is not available to me, however, I expect that Ann at the Lake County Star will have it and will provide it to you today.

This riddle was given to me some time ago by an elderly gentleman who passed away some time ago. See if you can figure it out, and I will give the answer to you next week.

The person who makes it, sells it. The person who buys it, doesn’t use it. The person who uses it, doesn’t know it. What is it?

(Now I just have to remember to give you the answer next week)

I have two new great-grandchildren since the beginning of the month. The first is Khloe Noel, born on Feb. 1, who is the second child of my grandchildren, Jonathan and Megan Reitzel. Jon is a marine, stationed at the Pentagon. Her big sister is Kennedy.

The second is a boy, Jonas Frederick, born on Valentines Day to my grandchildren, Kristin and Jeff Olekinski, who live in Ypsilanti. Jonas has two big sisters, Payton and Lenci.

We now have fourteen great-grandchildren.

The following article was sent to me a while back, and it contains little known facts. See how many you already know!

  • A dime has 118 ridges around the edges.
  • Maine is the only state whose name is just one syllable.
  • A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
  • The words racecar, kayak and level are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes).
  • A crocodile cannot stick out its tongue.
  • There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: “abstemious” and “facetious.”
  • A dragonfly has a life span of 24 hours.

The list of little known facts goes on with at least 30 more facts, but I don’t want to overload you will all of them at once, so I will save the rest for another time! In the meantime, aren’t you glad you know all these important facts?

Thought for the week; Isn’t it interesting that Americans have more time-saving devices and less time than any other group of people in the world?

Have a great week.
