IDLEWILD — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted an Oklahoma bail enforcement team to arrest a fugitive.

The fugitive recovery occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, in Idlewild, when Demetrius Joseph Burton was taken into custody without incident, officials said.

“Sgt. Brad Nixon, Deputy James Buscaino and I assisted bounty hunters from Oklahoma on a nationwide absconding warrant for Demetrius Joseph Burton for FTA (failure to appear) on trafficking illegal drugs and possession of a firearm,” said Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin. “In law enforcement, we collectively work together in not just the public arena but also in the private sector to accomplish our mission of public safety.”

Burton was lodged in the Lake County Jail pending extradition to Oklahoma.
