Lake County Community Foundation receives national re-accreditation

LAKE COUNTY—The Lake County Community Foundation (LCCF) recently received re-accreditation from the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence.

LCCF received its re-accreditation through its relationship as a geographic affiliate of Fremont Area Community Foundation (FACF).

“Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process,” said Randy Royster, chair of the Community Foundations National Standards Board. “This accreditation is a significant accomplishment that indicates Fremont Area Community Foundation and Lake County Community Foundation demonstrate a commitment to transparency, quality, integrity, and accountability as it carries out its mission.”

The National Standards program requires community foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grant-making, and administration. While community foundations face regulation at the state and federal level, the National Standards program provides a voluntary additional layer of rigorous, sector-driven, and enforced accountability. More than 500 community foundations have received accreditation nationwide.

“As an affiliate of Fremont Area Community Foundation, the Lake County Community Foundation prides itself on the accomplishments made in our first 24 years,” said Jane Allison, chair of the LCCF board. “The accreditation, the affiliation, and the leadership Lake County Community Foundation gains from Fremont Area Community Foundation gives donors the reassurance that the wonderful achievements and the meaningful impacts made in Lake County are worthwhile and continue onward.”

For more than 20 years, Fremont Area Community Foundation has been proud to support Lake County Community Foundation, Mecosta County Community Foundation, and Osceola County Community Foundation as geographic affiliate foundations. FACF manages assets while advisory boards from each respective community review grant proposals and recommend funding.
