BALDWIN – The 2012 4H Youth Baseball/Softball Program is about to begin. Our baseball program is in its 23rd year thanks to the cooperation and support we get from the community and our local merchants. The Baldwin area youth really enjoy baseball and softball; it keeps them busy during the summer months. Playing ball gives them a positive experience and provides hours of exercise and excitement. New this year we will be starting May 1, with Spring Training. Spring Training will start at 5:30 p.m. at Hollister Field and continue the rest of the week. Everyone is invited to come out and see what 4H baseball and softball is all about. We encourage you to register and play ball where you will learn baseball and softball skills while having fun.

Practices for all age groups begin the second week of May with games beginning in June. There is a $10 fee for co-ed t-ball (ages five and six) and co-ed coach pitch (ages seven, eight and nine). There is a $20 fee boy’s Little League baseball and girl’s softball (ages 10, 11, 12) and for Pony League baseball and girl’s softball (ages 13, 14 and 15).

No child will be allowed to begin practice or play without proper registration. All players must have a fully signed registration, medical form and payment turned in to the MSU Extension 4H Office by mid April. Forms are available at the MSU Extension 4H office 915 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin or Baldwin Community Schools. We will also have forms available at Spring Training.

We have a serious need for new coaches. If you work well with youth and are interested in coaching, please give us a call. If you know someone else that would be a good candidate please pass along this information to them. In addition we need volunteers to help with transportation or a variety of other needs.

If you have any questions or comments, please call the MSU Extension 4H Office, (231) 745-2732.
