LUTHER NEWS: Baseball, softball sponsors needed

I got a call from Pat Washburn last week, asking that I refund her money for the Star because my column was not in the paper, I didn’t have my paper yet, so I couldn’t check. In fact, her friend bought two copies of the paper and couldn’t find the Luther News, so I called the Star and talked to Joe, who told me he was reading the Luther News on Page 11. However, my picture and my name were not included above the Luther News so they didn’t realize it was my column!

If you see Paul Korte this week, wish him a happy birthday. He will be 94 on Thursday, April 26! Happy birthday, Paul!

Its that time of year again! Time to get started with baseball/softball season. Larry and Michelle Lucas are looking for some help with expenses once again. In addition to normal expenses, their goal is to have new fencing installed at Whaley Field and begin fundraising for new fencing at Flynn Field. Thanks to their 2011 sponsors, last year they were able to replace the fencing on the Pee Wee/South Field. If you have not had a chance to see the new fencing, please take time to drive by. It looks great!

Sponsors are also needed for t-shirts. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, they are asking for a donation of $200 to cover the cost of the shirts. Please contact Larry and Michelle prior to April 30 to ensure that your business is placed on the team’s shirts you wish to sponsor.

Checks can be made out to LASA, and mailed to LASA, P.O. Box 253, Luther, MI 49656. No donation is too small, and any amount will be most appreciated. I bet if we each send a small amount (say $5 or $10) a lot of great things could happen.

Thought for the week; Education can’t make us all leaders – but it can teach us which leader to follow!

Have a great week.
