BALDWIN — Santa was busy in Lake County on Saturday making stops and visiting children before the big day next week when his reindeer fly him around the world to deliver gifts.

About 120 kids gathered at AMVETS Post No. 1988 in Baldwin on Saturday afternoon to get their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy hot dogs, chips, cocoa and cupcakes and have a chance to win door prizes.

The event was hosted by the AMVETS Post No. 1988 Ladies Auxiliary.

A highlight to this years festivities was when organizer Betty Dermyer had the children gather around while she read, “The Night Before Christmas.”

Santa also made stops at Skinner Park in Irons, the Pathfinder Community Library in Baldwin, where kids got to make holiday crafts, watch a movie and enjoy snacks, and at Chase Township Public Library, where kids were treated to lunch and decorated cookies.
