Spirit of the Woods Chapter of the North Country Trail Association announces a June Trails Day Hike.

The community is invited to join the hike at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, on the trail starting near the Vince Smith Bridge. After the hike, there will be an appetizer potluck near the bridge to celebrate National Trails Day.

The hike will be an out and back hike with an approximate distance of five miles, but hikers can choose to walk a longer or shorter distance.

The Vince Smith Bridge, which was replaced almost two years ago, is a suspension bridge over the Sauble River. The bridge was built on site by the U.S. Forest Service and Spirit of the Woods members.

From Baldwin, go north on M-37 to 4 Mile Road. Turn left on 4 Mile Road. At 5 Mile Road, turn West. Continue west and turn left on Mac Road, where hikers will park.

This hike is on the North Country Trail and the miles hiked can be included for the Hike 100/50 Challenge. For more information and to reserve, contact Loren Bach at spw@northcountrytrail.org or (231) 510-1983. Please bring an appetizer to share.
