July brings hot weather and lots of activities

July is the month we have to celebrate the Independence of this country.

The United States is not the only country to have its Independence Day in the Month of July. Belarus, Venezuela, Argentina, Belarus, Belgium, the Bahamas, and the Maldives also have the month of July to celebrate their Independence. Parades, barbecues, and parties for the recent graduates continue.

Mosquitos and ticks have been in large numbers this season, please remember to wear your bug sprays and sunscreen to protect yourself. Also be sure to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.

The residents will also be attending Wenger Pavilion for a few concerts this summer, Patrick Frederick, our admissions director shall be in attendance offering snow cones to our friends in the community.

The month of July was named after Julius Caesar. the birthstone for July is the ruby with the zodiac signs being Cancer and Leo.

The month of July is also known as National Blueberry, Ice Cream, and Hotdog month, take the family down to Comerica Park and enjoy a good old fashioned hotdog while cheering on our Detroit Tigers. President Gerald Ford was born July 1, 1913, he is a fellow Michigander. The Arts & Crafts show in Charlevoix is July 12-13.

Due to the days being longer and hotter in the month of July it is sometimes referred to as the “Dog days of summer.” Please remember to stay safe and enjoy this summer with your families.
