BALDWIN — Junior Jenna Johnson is back for another season as setter with the Baldwin volleyball program.

Johnson has been setter the last two years.

“You are more in charge of the team,” Johnson said. “You control where the ball is going. Wherever I am is also (related to) where they need to be, because I’m the setter.”

Johnson focuses on having the proper form as the setter and moving the ball up well for the hitters.

She indicated serving is her No. 2 strength behind setting.

“I try to hit it in different spots every time where they don’t expect it,” Johnson said.

Accurate serving is extremely important, Johnson said, along with serve receive. You have to bump it up, but not all over the place, Johnson said.

Evaluating the team’s prospects is too soon to tell Johnson said. The Panthers play at Marion on Sept. 6 and will have a better gauge on what they can do this season.
