IDLEWILD — This weekend, music will flow through Idlewild’s woods and over its lakes when four acts — including a Michael Jackson impersonator — take the stage for the 2013 Idlewild Music Fest.

The annual music festival is the same series that has been held annually on William’s Island throughout the years. However, this year, the festival will be held for one day only and have a new location: The grounds of the Morton Motel.

“This is just a one-year thing,” said Freddie Mitchell, the festival’s vendor coordinator. “It will probably be back to three days next year and up on the island.”

The festival will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday at Morton Motel, located at 6389 S. Tacoma St. in Idlewild. In addition to the mix of jazz, blues, pop, soul and R&B music that will be featured, the festival will have a variety of food available to purchase from vendors and arts and craft vendors.

The festival will feature four acts, with some performing two sets, and includes new acts and returning favorites. Headlining the show is Yancyy, a returning favorite, while Kathy Lamar, Benny Reeves and Paul Carey and Tywan, a Michael Jackson impersonator, round out the rest of the festival’s lineup. A Chicago DJ also will be at the festival.

Saturday’s event is open to the public and free, however, donations will be accepted. Pets are not allowed at the event, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
