Last week I mentioned that I had lost my keys. It has been about six weeks that the keys were missing. Finally, in desperation, I asked St. Anthony for a little help in locating my lost keys. (Actually, a friend reminded me that St. Anthony might be of some assistance in locating the lost keys).

Well, with a little help from St. Tony, two UPS drivers, the postmaster from Irons and Vera Hoover’s caregiver, my keys were found and returned to me. It seems that I dropped them when I was at Vera’s house. The caregiver found them, but thought the UPS driver had dropped them, so she sent them to Baldwin with Vera’s nurse, who returned them to the UPS driver. He then gave them to another UPS driver, who took them back to Irons. When the postmaster read my column in the Lake County Star, she called me and asked for a description of the keys. Finding out that they were mine, she sent them to the Luther Post Office and I picked them up there. St. Anthony came through once again (along with a little help from all the people I described above.

I remind you once again that Spectrum Health provides a blood draw clinic every Tuesday from 8 a.m until 1 p.m. at the Newkirk Township Hall. In these days of high gas prices, we cannot afford to drive to Cadillac or Reed City to have lab work, so do take advantage of this service so that Spectrum will continue to make it available to us.

Today is the first day of March, and the sun is shining and the temperature is up to 32, so I guess we are to assume that March is not coming in like a lion, and we all know what that means. March won’t go out like a lamb!  Well, you will recall that the groundhog did not see his shadow, so maybe March will go out like a lamb. In any case, I will be glad when April comes and we can look forward to green grass and daffodils! (Actually the daffodils on the west side of our house have poked their noses out of the ground and are looking for spring).

It has been three months since Paul fell and fractured his pelvis, and we saw the doctor yesterday who gave him a clean bill of health, and told him to pick up his shovel and go back to work. Can’t keep a good man down! (Little does she know that he has been shoveling for the past three months).

Get well wishes are extended to Karen Gidley who was taken to the ER with heart problems. Karen had to have two stints, and is well on her way to recovery. Keep her in your prayers.

Thought for the week; A man’s reputation is what his friends say about him. His character is what his enemies say about him.

Have a great week, and think Spring!
