BALDWIN — Andre Hobbs showed Baldwin fans in Tuesday’s 70-48 loss to Chippewa Hills in the boys basketball season opener he’s ready for a productive season.

The Baldwin senior had 14 points to lead his team.

Hobbs is among the key returning players from last season. It’s his third year on varsity.

“Things have gone well,” he said. “We can do better. We have a young athletic team.”

Hobbs prides himself on his shooting abilities. His 3-pointer is his best shot. He has a goal for shooting 35 percent in threes.

“On defense, I think we’re going to run a lot of man, a lot of 3-2s,” Hobbs said. “

The Panthers play at Pentwater on Friday. Baldwin has been strong league contenders in past years.

“I think we can do it again,” Hobbs said. “We’ll need good defense mainly.”
