NEWAYGO — Michigan State Police troopers arrested two Hesperia men on Tuesday on larceny and firearm possession charges.

In May, a Hesperia man contacted troopers about two of his firearms missing. An investigation determined that the firearms had been stolen when a brake-in occurred on the property. The investigation resulted in the recovery of the two stolen firearms and two suspects were identified.

After a review was conducted by Newaygo County Prosecutors office, warrants were issued for both the suspects for larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

A 17-year-old and 20-year-old were arrested on the felony charges, and both men were charged as habitual offenders. The most serious charge is a five-year felony.

The men were lodged at the Newaygo County Jail, and their names are being withheld pending their arraignment in the 78th District Court of White Cloud.
