Grand Oaks hosts fashion show

LAKE COUNTY — Last Friday afternoon, Grand Oaks Nursing Center in Baldwin was the site of a light-hearted fashion show that set the tone for summer and provided a special treat for the residents. Party clothes and a party mood were the order of the day: Grand Oaks craft experts and beauticians had provided lovely silk bouquets and corsages for the ladies, who also sported stylish new hair-do’s for the occasion.

A number of the models were husband-and-wife couples or mother/daughter fashion-coordinated teams. The prize for the cutest “accessories” went to Tiara the puppy and Cooper the dog, who also made an appearance on the “catwalk” (or would “dog-walk” be more appropriate?)

Emcee Kathy Sykes provided the narration and background music. The event wound up with refreshments in the activities room.

The Grand Oaks staff regularly schedules such programs for the entertainment of the people who live there. They also welcome help from volunteers, so if you would like to get involved, give them a call!
