WEBBER TWP. — Families and youth will have an opportunity to embrace the outdoors. The seventh annual Get Outdoors Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at the Community Family Youth Park in Webber Township.

Hosted by Webber Township Parks and Recreation Committee, in association with the U.S. Forest Baldwin Ranger District, the event includes a visit from Nature Discovery with live snakes and frogs. Two guided birding walks are scheduled at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Event-goers can try their hands at archery with members of the Lake County Sportsmans Club.

To promote wellness and self-sufficiency, the Lake County Community Food Council will hand out garden-in-a-box kits so people can grow their own vegetables.

Event goers also will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Smokey Bear.

Personnel from Webber Township Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Office recreation unit will be on hand with vehicles and equipment for youth to explore.

Free snacks and refreshments are available as well as free Dial-A-Ride transportation to and from the event. For free rides, call (231) 745-7311.
