Firefighters survive roof collapse in Dover Twp.
DOVER TWP. — Four firefighters are safe following a roof collapse at the site of a fire in Dover Township.
The Leroy-Rose Lake Fire Department firefighters were among several departments responding to a house fire on Feb. 15, and had entered the house to combat the blaze. While pulling down ceiling tiles to get to the fire above, portions of the ceiling began to fall. One of the firefighters became trapped under some of the fallen debris.
The trapped firefighter was fortunately found to be unhurt and was recovered by her teammates. The team fought through obstacles, including exploding firearm ammunition inside the house, and made it to safety. The fire was soon after brought under control.
The firefighters credited their teamwork for making it out of the home unscathed and expressed this incident will not prevent them from doing their job in the future.
The homeowners were away when the fire started and no one was hurt by the incident.
