DOVER TWP. — Flames ripped through a residence in Dover Township at 4:30 p.m., Monday. The home was a total loss.

Rick Knuppenburg discovered the flames coming from a back bedroom in his mobile home on North Coe Rd. and went to a neighbor’s home to call for help. When he returned to his house, it had already been destroyed.

According to Tustin Fire Chief Bob Rose, crews from Tustin, Luther and Leroy fire departments arrived on scene to fight the flames shooting out of the mobile home which already had collapsed from the fire by the time they arrived.

Fire crews cleared the scene a little after 7 p.m., said Rose, but they are still trying to determine how the fire started. A team from the American Red Cross pf Greater Grand Rapids arrived on the scene and are assisting Knuppenburg with recovery from the fire loss.
