Family Health Care awarded enrollment grant

BALDWIN — Baldwin Family Health Care has been awarded a more than $100,000 grant to assist patients in insurance enrollment.

The health center was awarded $119,709 in grant funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

It plans to hire new outreach and enrollment staff to assist with enrollment into affordable health insurance programs across the counties of Lake, Newaygo, Wexford and Missaukee.

“We are pleased to receive the funds to assist uninsured people in our communities to gain affordable healthcare,” said Baldwin Family Health Care’s CEO Kathy Sather.

“These funds are designated to assist over 7,000 people across the four counties in which our health centers are located. Over 90 percent of our patients without any health insurance will qualify for this expanded care under the Affordable Care Act.

Family Health Care’s vision is to ensure all people receive quality primary care services and this will get us that much closer to bring this vision into reality.”

The Health Center’s trained application workers will help consumers with enrollment in Medicaid, MI Child and Health Insurance Marketplace plans.
