Evergreen Covenant Church receives $1,000 donation

Sheriff's Charitable Campaigns continue to serve community

LAKE COUNTY – Evergreen Covenant Church in Branch Township recently received a $1,000 donation from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department charitable campaigns.

The donation will go toward the purchase of a new generator for use when losing power, Sheriff Rich Martin told the Star.

This will enable them to become a refuge for those without power in the event of a significant power loss within the community.

“It was a privilege to issue out another check from one of the charity campaigns,” Martin said.

Lake County Sheriff’s Department Charitable Campaign includes the Sheriff’s returnables for charity campaign, the Blessing of the Bikes shirt drive and the Special Cause Sheriff Patch drive.

To date, the campaign has donated to the following charitable organizations:

• AMVETS Post 1988 — $2,000

• Luther Lions Club — $2,000

• VFW Post 5315 — $2,000

• Bread of Life Food Pantry — $2,000

• Peacock Senior Center — $1,000

• Irons SDA Community Center/Pantry — $1,000

• Henrietta Senior Center — $1,000

• Baldwin Youth Football Club — $1,000

• Chase Public Library — $1,000

• Luther Fire Department — $1,000 — for the purchase of rescue sleds

• Shrine Of The Pines Museum — $1,000

• Williams Island Park Improvement — $1,000

• Idlewild Beautification Projects — $1,000

• Lake County Historical Society — $1,000

• Martin John Heritage Museum in Irons — $1,000

• Hollister Senior Center — $2,000

• Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center in Reed City — $2,000

• Lake County Merry Makers in Idlewild — $2,000

• WMCMH Autism Treatment and Counseling — $2,000

• Evergreen Covenant Church — $1,000 toward the purchase of a generator

The total amount given to non-profits to date is $28,000.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Charitable Campaign would like to thank all those who have contributed to the programs.

These are ongoing campaigns that continue to donate to charitable causes throughout Lake County and the surround areas.
