What a world we live in today! When will it get better? Some are overwhelmed and live without hope. They need Jesus. Their hope is in their stuff and that has been taken away. What heart break and confusion. They have financial problems because they trusted in their credit cards. What a bankrupt way to live life! They have lived abusive lives and now have health problems. They may struggle for their next breath, wondering if it will come. They live in dispair.

They have made selfish choices all their lives and have no friends to help them now. How lonely they are! They have become overwhelmed in the dark valley of loneliness. Their many self induced difficulties are following them. They see no cause and effect in life. They can’t seem to avoid disaster. They seemingly have no where to turn. Thank God He has given us his promises to depend upon in these days!

The Bible says, ‘’He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him’’ (Psa. 91:15). We don’t need to worry. We have hope. We will delight in the Lord and trust his promises. We will seek his provisions once again. He will never let us down. He will answer our call in the darkness. He will be with us in the deep valleys of trouble. We need and will receive his comfort. We can have his peace at last.

The Bible says, ‘’Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus’’ (Phil. 4:6,7).

I know, why pray when you can worry? How silly that question is. The Lord tells us to pray with the sense of being in worship toward almighty God. Be careful for nothing is the command. He will give us his peace when it makes no sense to us. We may not understand it. We might not be able to explain it. It is just there. We know we are going in the wrong direction if we worry. If we become overwhelmed with concern and cares of this world, we are out of the will of God

Paul described his situation, ‘’We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed’’ (2 Cor. 4:8,9). We are no different in need than Paul. Do you know what real troubles are? Paul did. He said, even though you are surrounded by troubles, there is no need to be distressed. Yes, even though you are perplexed, there is no need to be in despair. When persecution comes, and if you live for Christ it will come, you have not been forsaken. Jesus said, ‘’I am with you’’ (Matt. 28).

You may feel you have been cast down, yet, you are not destroyed. You may have been beaten senseless but you’re not knocked out. We can have hope in Christ. If you are a born again believer, seek him out. We can call on him in prayer. So, pray. He will not forsake us. He will give us his comfort and peace. He promises us he’ll return one day for us. So take hope. If you have never trusted Christ, take hope. He will save you.

Listen to the Spirit of God. It’s God’s plan to save our souls by his grace. He wants to take care of our sin problem. Put your faith in Christ the risen Saviour. He shed his blood to set us free from the enslavement of sin. Would you trust him today? Trust Him while you may. He is coming again.
