IRONS — A Ludington man will face charges after he crashed a vehicle into a tree resulting in the death of a passenger on May 30 in Irons.

The driver, Ralph Dwyer, 43, of Ludington, was arrested after being released from the hospital with minor injuries. He faces multiple charges from driving with a suspended license to negligent vehicular homicide.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single vehicle car crash at approximately 6 p.m. at the corner of Brooks Road and Nine Mile Road in Eden Township.

The vehicle carrying three occupants lost control on the curve and struck a tree, according to Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin.

Cody Horton, 21, of Branch, was pronounced dead at the scene. Terri Williams, 40, of Baldwin, was taken to Munson Hospital with serious but stable injuries.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Irons Area Fire Department, Norman Twp Fire Department, Life EMS and the Mid-Michigan Medical Examiner.
