Deputies bust crack dealer

LAKE COUNTY – Police arrested a Baldwin man on Thursday after a traffic stop led to the discovery crack cocaine.

A trooper from the Michigan State Police Baldwin post pulled over a 30-year-old Baldwin man for a traffic violation. While speaking with the man, who was driving down the highway with his two minor children, the trooper suspected that he had attempted to get rid of a small amount of marijuana by eating it.

After the suspect was arrested, police searched his pockets and found crack cocaine. The man also had a suspended driver’s license. The suspect’s name was not released.

The children were turned over to their mother at the scene. The suspect was lodged in Lake County Jail on a felony charge of possessing less than 25 grams of crack cocaine, which carries a sentence of up to four years behind bars. He also was charged with driving on a suspected license, a misdemeanor with a sentence of up to 93 days in jail.
