Dance team to compete at world competition
BIG RAPIDS — The Rhythm’s Edge Competitive Dance Team is a local dance team out of Big Rapids. The team is made up of 28 dancers from Mecosta, Osceola and Lake counties and range in age from 6 to 14 years old.
Three of Rhythm’s Edge dance routines have been selected to compete at The World Dance Competition in Secaucus, N.J. This is an invite only event and would be a wonderful experience for the dancers, but they cannot get there without help from local sponsors. The team is raising money to help offset the cost of travel, lodging and competition fees. The fundraising goal is set at $21,000.
This week is recital week and the dancers are conducting a pop can drive to help support their fundraising goals. Anyone willing to donate cans can drop them off at the Big Rapids High School beginning Thursday evening, June 7, through Sunday afternoon, June 10.
On Sunday, June 10, the dancers are hosting a Buffalo Wild Wings fundraising event. The team will earn 20 percent of the total bill, with the specified event flier.
Then on Wednesday, June 13, the dancers will be hosting the Burger Boogie Event at the Chase Creek Smokehouse. The team will receive 100 percent profit from the Smokehouse’s slider basket special for the day.
The public is asked to help these dedicated dancers experience an opportunity of a lifetime.
