Come enjoy a taste of Idlewild

IDLEWILD — On Saturday, July 30, from 1 to 3 p.m., or as long as the food lasts, the Idlewild Lot Owners Association is holding its second annual Men Who Cook Extravaganza at the Robert Riffe Center, 13330 Lake Drive, Idlewild.

This is a great opportunity to taste the work of some of Lake County’s leading men and cooks. They include Sheriff Bob Hilts, George Walker, Supervisor of Yates Township, Fire Chief John Barnett, Planning Commissioner Sam Rodgers, Rev. Winston Welch of First Baptist Church of Idlewild, Master BBQers John Chaffer and Mark Thomas, Bill McClure, former owner of the Red Rooster and a host of other notables.

On the menu are the usual offerings of chili, BBQ meats, meat pies, stews and peach cobbler. Those who attend can purchase a ticket for $10 which will entitle them to samples of what each man is presenting. Beverages will also be available to purchase.

Every penny raised by this event remains in Lake County and is used to support the many programs which the Lot Owners Association conducts, such as youth programs during the summer, support to Camp Idlewild, fun and educational workshops for bridge players, a knitting group, and senior exercise.

The ILOA hopes everyone will drop in, have a great time and support the ILOA and the Idlewild community.
