LAKE COUNTY — Those struggling with chronic pain are invited to participate in a class, Chronic Pain (PATH) Personal Action Toward Health, hosted by Michigan State University Extension.

The self-management workshop is for people living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, arthritis and chronic pain.

The program is from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 19, 26 and Dec. 2, 10 and 17, at the Michigan State University Extension Office, 830 Michigan Ave., Baldwin.

Participants learn goal setting, dealing with pain and fatigue, communicating with health care professionals and managing medications. Topics discussed are to better equip individuals facing daily challenge of living with chronic conditions.

The program is $20 and includes a book and CD. If a person cannot afford to pay, scholarships are available. This is an interactive program including a moving easy program, with light stretching and flexibility routines too improve range and motion.

Chronic pain PATH is helpful for anyone managing long-term pain, long-term meaning more than six months, or beyond the usual time of healing.
