Childress has another big day at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT — Former Baldwin All-Stater Brandon Childress had one catch for 22 yards in a 45-27 win over Kansas on Saturday.

Childress played a key role in Central Michigan University’s 30-27 triple overtime football victory at home over Rhode Island in the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Central Michigan will be at Syracuse on Saturday.

Childress, a sophomore wide receiver, caught four passes for 20 yards against Rhode Island. The longest reception was for 7 yards.

Childress is coming off a 2016 season in which he appeared in 11 games with four as a starter. He was fifth on the team with 25 catches and fourth in yards with 327.

Childress was redshirted in 2017. At high school, he was a fourth-year starter and varsity letter winner in football and earned all-state honors.

As a quarterback in his senior season, he passed for 1,547 yards with a 108-for-187 clip and had 109 rushes for 1,039 yards with 48 total touchdowns.
