BITELY — Thinking about Christmas in August? That’s right! 104 members of the Bitely Boys, a motorcycle club that contributes to community needs in the Bitely area were on the road for a good cause on Saturday, August 24, 2013. It was the Toy Run, which donates to the Children’s Christmas Party which is held at the Amazing Grace Acres Church in December.

The Toy Run journeyed from Bitely to the Newaygo VFW Post, then to the Kozy Inn near Crouton/Hardy Dam area, on to the Hawkins Bar near Chase, Government Lake Lodge in Baldwin, and then back to Bitely.

This event is one several events held by club members during the year. Some are for fun, such as the Putt Putt Runs in the Spring and Fall, the Bitely Homecoming, Camp Bob Rodeo, a Rib Cookoff and a Golf Outing. Others help raise monies for community members battling cancer or other debilitating diseases with transportation needs or other needs.

They also help families and individuals who have lost their homes to fire. They also participate in the Community Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, among other local events in the Bitely/woodland Park area.

The group also holds a monthly meeting beginning in April through December. Ladies are also members of the club and some of the events are family oriented.
