Baldwin man charged for allegedly stealing trailer from Little Caesars
Suspect could face up to 10 years in prison
BIG RAPIDS — A Baldwin man is facing charges in Mecosta County's 77th District Court for allegedly stealing a trailer from the parking lot of Little Caesars Pizza in Big Rapids.
According to court records, Manulal Gulabchmad Gandhi, 42, was arraigned Tuesday on a count of larceny (greater than $1,000, but less than $20,000). Gandhi also is charged as a third-time habitual offender.
The charges stem from events in October, when a silver 2018 Qualitec Yukon trailer valued between $3,500 and $4,500 was reported stolen from the Little Caesars parking lot, according to a news release from the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety.
The news release stated that video footage from the store during the time of the theft and a witness tip led investigators to identify Gandhi as a suspect.
Gandhi was arrested by Big Rapids police Friday, with assistance from Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies.
He is lodged at the Mecosta County Jail on a $25,000 cash surety bond, and a probable cause conference is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 25.
According to court records, the larceny charge with a third-time habitual offender status carries with it a possible sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
