BALDWIN — Baldwin Community Schools students from kindergarten through 12th grade, staff, community members and veterans filled the Baldwin High School gymnasium, Friday, Nov. 11, to pay tribute to veterans.

The moving program included stirring music selections, a ceremony by the Lake County Honor Guard, speeches from guest speakers, Fred Wheetley and David Woodman, commander of VFW Post No. 5315.

Woodman awarded eighth-grader Abigail Bradley $100 for winning the annual essay contest.

The program closed with the student choir singing “America the Beautiful,” followed by a moment of silence. A lone trumpet playing Taps echoed through the gymnasium, creating awareness and reflection of the sacrifice made by so many in service to their country.
