CADILLAC — Baker College of Cadillac student Dan Good is one of 30 students nationwide to receive a 2013 Foundation for Surgical Technology scholarship. His $1,000 award is funded by the Michigan State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).

The AST scholarship encourages and rewards educational excellence in the surgical technology field. Good, who resides in Kingsley, plans to graduate in August with an associate degree in surgical technology.

“We’re extremely proud that one of our students was selected for this award,” said Kelly Smith, Baker College of Cadillac president. “It’s a testament to Dan’s hard work and dedication to his surgical technology studies.”

Good will be featured in the August issue of the national AST magazine which is distributed to more than 35,000 AST members who are surgical technologists, surgical assistants, educators, students and health professionals.

To be eligible for the AST awards, applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited surgical technology program and eligible to sit for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certified surgical technologist exam.
