Dusting

A house becomes a home when you can write “I love you” on the furniture.

I used to spend at least eight hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect – ‘in case someone came over’. Finally I realized one day that no one came over; they were all out living life and having fun!

Now when people visit, I don’t have to explain the condition of my home. They are more interested in hearing about the things I’ve been doing while I was away living life and having fun. If you haven’t figured this out yet, please heed this advice.  Life is short. Enjoy it!

Dust if you must ... but wouldn’t it be better to paint a picture, or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need!

Dust if you must, but there’s not much time ... with beer to drink, rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must.. but the world’s out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain, this day will not come around again.

The moral of the story is, forget the dusting and go out and have a good time!

A couple of weeks ago, my water heater went out. Of course it couldn’t be something simple and relatively inexpensive wrong with it. The repair man was here twice and couldn’t fix it. We couldn’t find anything to tell us when this water heater was installed, until the other night, when I came across the paperwork which told me the water heater was purchased and installed in 1992! I can’t believe it was that long ago. In the meantime my car started acting up. I was in town getting the paper, when my car refused to start. Wouldn’t even groan. Steve from the Oil Shop came to my rescue and got it started, but when I got home and shut it off, it refused to start again. Long story short, I need a new starter!

Here are some interesting bits of information you might enjoy becoming aware of!

I planted some birdseed. A bird came up. Now I don’t know what to feed it.

I had amnesia once – or twice.

I went to San Francisco. I found someone’s heart.  Now what?

Protons have mass? I didn’t even know they were Catholic.

All I ask is a chance to prove that money can’t make me happy.

If the world were a logical place, men would ride horses sidesaddle.

What is a “free” gift?  Aren’t all gifts free?

They told me I was gullible … and I believed them.

Teach a child to be polite and courteous in the home and, when he grows up he’ll never be able to merge his car onto a freeway.

Two can live as cheaply as one, for half as long.

Experience is the thing you have left when everything else is gone.

Thought for the week: some people make the world more special just by being in it.

Have a great week.
