School Christmas Program

The Baldwin Community Schools Christmas Program will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 1 :30 p.m. at the Elementary School.

Head Start

Enrollment for the Head Start Program is now open. The program for children ages 3 (by Oct. 1) to 5 years of age.

Ages and Stages Questionnaire is an interactive screening that helps parents of children ages 0 to 5 years recognize;

C.O.V.E. Group to Meet

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters) will be starting a Women’s Support Group in January 2015. The group will meet on Thursday afternoon. If you are interested in attending, call 231-843-2541 Ext. 29 or 231-745-8122.

Museum Cookie Sale

The Museum Cookie Sale will take place at the Luther branch of Lake-Osceola State Bank beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.

Craft Club

The Luther Library will hold it’s Craft Club on Friday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m.

Lake County Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Society Historical Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Museum exhibits include logging, one-room schools and a 1940s kitchen. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Baldwin Fire Department in conjunction with St. Ann’s Food Pantry will host a Mobile Food Pantry on Saturday, Dec. 20. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with distribution beginning at 10 a.m. For any questions, call the Fire Chief at 231-745-7738.

A.A. Meetings

Legion to Meet

The American Legion Post 263 will meet on the third Saturday of the month at 12 p.m. at the Henrietta Summers Senior Center, 723 E. Lansing Blvd., in Idlewild. The next meeting will be Dec. 20.

Idlewild Kids Christmas Party

The Chatter Boxx Book Club in collaboration with the Concerned Citizen’s Coalition of Idlewild will host a Kids Christmas Party (ages infant to 12) on Saturday, Dec. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy.

A Look Ahead

Stehouwer Free Clinic

Free limited health care services are available in Cadillac for residents of Wexford, Missaukee and parts of Osceola and Lake counties with low income and no health insurance. Weekly health clinics are scheduled based on availability of volunteer health care providers. New patients need to call 231-876-6150 for an eligibility appointment, which are held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed noon to 1 p.m.).

Story Hour

The Luther Library hosts a Story Hour on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (All ages are welcome). No Story Hour Dec. 22 or Dec. 29.

Living On Grief Support

A Hospice of Michigan grief support program, Living On, is held the 4th Monday of the month at the Ludington Hospice of Michigan office, 5177 W. US 10, Suite 2, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The next meeting date is Dec. 22.

Christmas Movies

The Luther Library will host movies during Christmas Break on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Dec.22, 24 and 26 at 2 p.m.

Summers Senior Center

The Henrietta Summers Senior Center, located at 723 E. Lansing St. in historical Idlewild, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bingo 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, lunch 12 to 1 p.m., board games, Wii bowling, dominoes, card games and other activities are available. Narcotics Anonymous to Meet

NA will meet every Tuesday at 12 p.m. (noon) at 716 7th St., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014.

Fresh Food Giveaway

Grace Mobile Pantry, together with Feeding America food Bank, will provide free fresh food on the fourth Tuesday of every month at Noon, until gone. Food will be distributed in the parking lot of Lake Township Hall, 15580 Big Star Lake Rd. (M-37 South to 76th St, west) in Baldwin on Tuesday, Dec. 23. If you are income eligible, have children in need or have a temporary distress situation and are a resident of Lake County, you may come and fill out the form on the day of distribution. Sponsors and volunteers are from area churches and businesses, along with private individual donors. Community Youth Group

Community Christmas Dinner

A FREE Christmas Dinner will be served on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 beginning at 2 p.m. at St. Ann’s Senior Center, 690 East 9th St., Baldwin. A Thanks You to St. Ann’s Senior Center for the use of their kitchen and facility.

Volunteers Needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of People willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Public Library in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.
