Enrollment for the Head Start Program is now open. The program is for children ages 3 (by Oct. 1) to 5 years of age. Parents may enroll their children at the Robert F. Ages and Stages

The Ages and Stages Questionnaire is an interactive screening which helps parents of children ages 0 to 5 years recognize developmental milestones, teach activities to encourage healthy development, and educate parents on the need for early intervention. Lake County Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Society Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Museum exhibits include logging, a farming display, advertising memorabilia and photographs from 1890 to 2015 of the Baldwin Streetscape. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin. Please use the front entrance.

Halloween Party

The Pathfinder Library in Baldwin will host a Halloween party for youngsters from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Join in pumpkin decorating, cider and doughnuts and leave with a bag of treats.

Halloween Open House

The Webber Fire Department, at 2324 Springtime St., Baldwin, will host a Halloween open house from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Featured will be games, prizes and a haunted maze.

Jam Sessions

Halloween Party

The Baldwin Lion’s Club will host a Halloween Party for youngsters from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will take place at the Pleasant Plains Township Hall, at 885 Eighth St. in Baldwin. Join in the costume judging contest, food, fun and games.

Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, at the corner of M-37 and Woodland Dr., south of Baldwin. A potluck is at 6:30 p.m. and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be the Ben Crofoot Family and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Preschool Story Hour

The Luther Library will host a Preschool Story Hour at 11 a.m. on Mondays throughout the school year. The next meeting will be Nov. 2, 2015.

Playgroup

Parents and children ages birth to five years are invited to join the Baldwin Playgroup, meeting from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. each Monday at the Baldwin Pathfinder Library. Playgroup is designed to build on the strengths of families by teaching creative ideas to help children build their skills. Summers Senior Center

The Henrietta Summers Senior Center, located at 723 E. The Lake County Sportsmans Club will meet at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month and at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday. Church Bazaar

Amazing Grace Acres Church, on M-37, south of Baldwin, will host a Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Lunch will be available. Proceeds will help support Vacation Bible School.

North Country Trail Hike

The Spirit of the Woods Chapter of the North Country Trail Association announces a hike at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Those planning to hike should meet on High Bridge Rd. north of the river (south of Brethren) at the top pf the hill near River St. The plan is to explore a re-route of the North Country Trail in this area. Tailgate Chili Cook-off

The Village of Luther will host at Tailgate Chili Cook-off beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 in downtown Luther. Bring what you need to make 3 to 5 gallons of chili. This year’s theme is “(Michigan) Heroes and Legends.” Tasting begins at 1 p.m. There is an entry fee. All proceeds go to support the Luther Days Association. Electronics Recycling

Electronics can be recycled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Luther Village Hall, 301 State St. This service is available to anyone from any where. They cannot accept Cathode ray TV’s.

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Hospice of Michigan

Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled “When Families Grieve” through the Pathfinder Public Library in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.

Hollister Senior Center activities

Note: Hollister Senior Center is now open on Fridays. Senior activities at Hollister Senior Center, 1505 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin are as follows:

There will be a Beltone representative at Hollister on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Coffee is offered all day Monday through Friday.

Exercise Program will be hosted 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays.

Second Monday of the month will feature a U.A.W. meeting and potluck at noon as well as a meeting of the Democratic Party at 6 p.m.

A ceramics class is offered each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally there will be Swedish weaving classes every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a quilting class each Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon with the first Thursday being lessons and the remaining Thursdays devoted to project time.

Third Tuesday - There will be a Council on Aging Meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month. Similarly, there will be a Triad meeting at 12 :30 p.m. on that same day.

The Blood Pressure and Foot Lady will be on hand at 9 a.m on the first Thursday of the month.

The Garden Club will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month, while the Thrift Center Board will meet at  9:30 a.m. on the second Friday.

Last Saturday - Euchre games will be available from noon to 3 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month.
