Kids ID, Eyesight Screening

The Baldwin Lions Club and Michigan Masons will be located behind the Baldwin Business Center, (830 Michigan Ave.), on Thursday, July 17 from 12 to 4 p.m. They will provide eyesight screening and Kids ID services.

Animals at the Library

On Thursday, July 17, at 2 p.m. the John Ball Zoo will have live animals at the Luther Library, 115 State St.

Yard, Bake & Book Sale

The Pathfinder Library in Baldwin will hold a Yard, Bake And Book Sale on Friday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed during the Parade).

Lake County Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Museum exhibits include logging, one-room schools and 1930s quilts. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin.

Craft Club

A.A. Meetings

Idlewild Historical and Cultural Center

The Idlewild Historical and Cultural Center will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 30.

Martin Johnson Museum

Stehouwer Free Clinic

Free limited health care services are available in Cadillac for residents of Wexford, Missaukee and parts of Osceola and Lake counties with low income and no health insurance. Weekly health clinics are scheduled based on availability of volunteer health care providers. New patients need to call 231-876-6150 for an eligibility appointment, which are held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed noon - 1 p.m.).

Republicans to Meet

The Lake County Republicans will meet Monday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Pompeii’s in Baldwin. Come early and order dinner while socializing with fellow Republicans.

Summers Senior Center

The Henrietta Summers Senior Center, located at 723 E. Fresh Food Giveaway

Grace Mobile Pantry, together with Feeding America Food Bank will provide free fresh food on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 12 p.m. (noon), until gone. 

 Food will be distributed at Grace Lutheran Church, M-37, 2 1/4 miles south of 

Baldwin, on Tuesday, July 22. If you are income eligible, have children in need, or have a temporary distress situation, and are a resident of Lake County, you may come and fill out your complete information on the day of the distribution. Sponsors and volunteers are from area churches and businesses, along with private individual donations. Rail Trail Reopening

On Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m. there will be a celebration for the reopening of the Rail Trail at the trailhead (one block east of M-37 on Cedar St.) in Baldwin.

Events will include healthy snacks, an inaugural bike ride to Idlewild, a bicycle safety workshop, Smokey Bear and other information. This will be followed by the Sounds of the Forest concert at 7 p.m. at the Wenger Pavilion (one block south on Cedar).

Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, July 26 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, corner of M-37 and Woodland Park Dr., south of Baldwin. Potluck is at 6:30 and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be Nate and Friends and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Living On Grief Support Group

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group will meet the fourth Monday of each month from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Hospice of Michigan office, 5177 W. US-10, Suite 2 in Ludington. Note the new location! The next meeting will be Monday, July 28. This meeting is open to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a Hospice patient. The meetings are free of charge. Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.
