Blood Drive

MARSP to Meet

The Mason-Lake Chapter of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will hold a Memorial meeting to honor members who have passed away since May 2013 on Thursday, June 19. Women’s Group

Lake County Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Museum exhibits include logging, one-room schools and 1930s quilts. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin.

A.A. Meetings

A Look Ahead

Stehouwer Free Clinic

Free limited health care services are available in Cadillac for residents of Wexford, Missaukee and parts of Osceola and Lake counties with low income and no health insurance. Weekly health clinics are scheduled based on availability of volunteer health care providers. New patients need to call 231-876-6150 for an eligibility appointment, which are held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed noon - 1 p.m.)

Living On, Grief Support Group

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group will meet the fourth Monday of each month from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Hospice of Michigan office, 5177 W. US-10, Suite 2 in Ludington. Note the new location! The next meeting will be Monday, June 23. This meeting is open to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a Hospice patient. The meetings are free of charge. 


Parents and children ages birth to 5 years are invited to join the Baldwin Playgroup, meeting each Monday at the Baldwin Elementary Library from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Playgroup is designed to build on the strengths of families as creative ideas to help children build their skills are shared. Summers Senior Center

The Henrietta Summers Senior Center, located at 723 E. Lansing St. in historical Idlewild, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bingo 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, lunch 12 to 1 p.m., board games, Wii bowling, dominoes, card games and other activities are available. Narcotics Anonymous to Meet

NA will meet every Tuesday at 12 p.m. (noon) at 716 7th St. in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Fresh Food Giveaway

Grace Mobile Pantry, together with Feeding America Food Bank will provide free fresh food on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 12 p.m. (noon), until gone. Food will be distributed at Grace Luthern Church parking lot, Baldwin, on Tuesday, June 24. If you are income eligible, have children in need, or have a temporary distress situation, and are a resident of Lake County, you may come and fill out your complete information on the day of the distribution. Sponsors and volunteers are from area churches and businesses, along with private individual donations. Veteran Service Officer

On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, an American Legion Veteran Service Officer will be at the Lake County Department of Human Services office, 5653 S. M-37, Baldwin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The next date is Wednesday, June 25, 2014.

Yard, Plant, Craft & Bake Sale

Evergreen Covenant Women will host a Yard, Plant, Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Evergreen Covenant Church, 56th St and Evergreen, Branch. All monies go to charities.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Baldwin Area Fire Department in conjunction with Mobile Food Pantry. is sponsoring a one-time mobile food pantry on Saturday, June 28 at the Fire Department, located at 400 Washington Ave. Food distribution will be at noon and registration starts at 10 a.m. This is open to all residents of Lake County and surrounding areas. Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, June 28 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, corner of M-37 and Woodland Park Dr., south of Baldwin. Potluck is at 6:30 and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be Riding for the Brand and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Troutarama Meeting

There will be a Troutarama planning meeting Tuesday, July 1, at 4 p.m. at Wenger Insurance. All committee members, event chairpersons, volunteers, and interested community members are cordially invited to attend. also any written suggestions for this years festival can be submitted at the Wenger Insurance office. Dates for Troutarama 2014 are July 16 through July 20.  Remember, 2014 is the 58th Anniversary of Troutarama.

The 16th Annual Idlewild Parade will be held on Saturday, July 5, starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon). The parade route will be from the old township hall on Baldwin Road, to Williams Island. Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Items needed for the shelter include: blankets, razors, toilet paper, laundry soap and dish soap.

Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.
