The next meeting will be Thursday, August 8 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.   VFW Auxiliary To Meet The Peacock Post #5315 VFW Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Thursday, August 8 at 2 p.m. at the Post on M-37 north of Baldwin.   Dig into Reading The Luther Area Public Library will host a Summer Reading program for youngsters ages 5 to 17 on Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Todays’ program is Dinosaurs and Reptiles.   Garden Club To Meet The Garden Club of Lake County will meet on Thursday, August 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., Baldwin. Lake County Historical Society The Lake County Historical Society Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 Michigan Avenue next to the Pathfinder Library in Baldwin.   A.A. All concerts take place at Wenger Pavilion in Baldwin.   Community Sing &  Ice Cream Social The Luther third annual Community Sing and Ice Cream Social will be held on Sunday, August 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Purchase Pavilion, next to the Newkirk Township Hall. Bring your chairs and blankets. This event is FREE!  

A Look Ahead

Pre-School Story Hour A Pre-School Story Hour will be held each Monday at 11 a.m. at the Luther Library through the summer. Children under 5 years must be accompanied by an adult. The children listen to a story, do a craft and have a snack. Check out the Story Hour vegetable and flower gardens.   Grief Support Group To Meet A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, August 12. (They meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month).   Community Health Fair Family Health Care is hosting a Community Health Fair on Wednesday, August 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. at their facility (1615 Michigan Ave.) More than 20 local agencies will be on-site to promote their agency. FHC will provide free blood pressure, glucose & BMI screenings for guests. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Household items in working order are also needed.   Hospice of Michigan  Sesame Street Package Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD.
