Lake County Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Museum Room is open Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling (231) 898-2194. Museum exhibits include logging, one-room schools and 1930s quilts. Lobby displays can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 830 N. Michigan Ave. in Baldwin.

Women's Group

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters) will be starting a Women's Group to meet on the first and third Fridays of the month. If you are interested in joining this group, please call 231-843-2541 and leave a message.

Men’s Breakfast

 God’s True Vine will host their monthly Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, June 7 at 9 a.m. at 5889 S. Nelson Rd. (north of US-10) in Idlewild.

A.A. Meetings

Sportsman’s Club to meet

The Lake County Sportsman’s Club will meet on the first  Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. The meetings  are held at the Chamber of Commerce Building (with Grandma’s Treats) in Baldwin. Lighthouse Hikes

In celebration of the American Hiking Society Trails day and the Michigan's 3rd Westcoast Lighthouse Celebration, The Spirit of the Woods will host two hikes on Saturday, June 7 beginning at 10:45 a.m. at Little Sauble Lighthouse at Silver Lake State Park in Mears. Amvets District 6 Meeting & Picnic

A Look Ahead

Stehouwer Free Clinic

Free limited health care services are available in Cadillac for residents of Wexford, Missaukee and parts of Osceola and Lake counties with low income and no health insurance. Weekly health clinics are scheduled based on availability of volunteer health care providers. New patients need to call 231-876-6150 for an eligibility appointment, which are held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed noon - 1 p.m.)

Grief Support Group To Meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, June 9. Dems To Meet

The Lake County Democratic Party will meet every month through November 2014 at the Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Monday, June 9 at 5 p.m. New members are welcome.

Playgroup

Parents and children ages birth to 5 years are invited to join the Baldwin Playgroup, meeting each Monday at the Baldwin Elementary Library from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Playgroup is designed to build on the strengths of families as creative ideas to help children build their skills are shared. Summers Senior Center

The Henrietta Summers Senior Center, located at 723 E. Lansing St. in historical Idlewild, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bingo 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, lunch 12 to 1 p.m., board games, Wii bowling, dominoes, card games and other activities are available. Troutarama Meeting

There will be a Troutarama planning meeting Tuesday, June 10 at 4 p.m. at Wenger Insurance. All committee members, event chairpersons, volunteers, and interested community members are cordially invited to attend. also any written suggestions for this years festival can be submitted at the Wenger Insurance office. Dates for Troutarama 2014 are July 16 through July 20.  Remember, 2014 is the 58th Anniversary of Troutarama.

Veteran Service Officer

On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, an American Legion Veteran Service Officer will be at the Lake County Department of Human Services office, 5653 S. M-37, Baldwin from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The next date is Wednesday, June 11, 2014.

Lake County Finance Meeting

The Finance meeting for the Lake County Board of Commissioners will take place Wednesday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake County Court house.

The Lake County Board of Commissioners will meet Wednesday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lake County Courthouse, Commissioners Room.  (They meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month).

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross Blood Services will hold a Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 11 from 12 to 5:45 p.m. at Scottville United Methodist  Church, 114 W. State St., Scottville. Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds and be in good health.

Historical Society

The Lake County Historical Society will meet Wednesday, June 11 at 5:15 p.m. at the Baldwin Business Center, 830 Michigan Ave. in Baldwin. VA Without Walls

The Department of Veterans Affairs will host Veterans Assistance on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.The hours for the second Thursday are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hours for the fourth Thursday are from 12 to 4 p.m. at AMVETS Post 1988, 1959 W. 24th St., Baldwin.
