Turkey Hunters Rendezvous

Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, March 31 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, corner of M-37 and Woodland Park Dr., south of Baldwin. Potluck is at 6:30 and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be River of Life Quartet and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Lake County Health Service Association

The Lake County Health and Service Association will meet on Monday, April 2 at 5 p.m. at Grand Oaks Nursing Center, 600 Denway St. in Baldwin.

Bitely Better Conservation Club

The Bitely Better Conservation Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month (April through December) at its clubhouse at 15 Mile Rd. and M-37. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 4. The potluck starts  at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Easter Egg Hunt

Spring Fling 2012 will be presented by Amvets Post 1988 and Lake County Youth Committee will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Webber Youth Park on M-37 opposite the VFW Post 5315, north of Baldwin.

Grief Support Group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, April 9. Dems to meet

The Lake County Democratic Party will meet every month through November 2012 at the Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Monday, April 9 at 5 p.m. New members are welcome.

AMVETS to meet

The monthly meeting of AMVETS Post 1988 will be held on Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at the Post at 1959 W. 24th St. in Baldwin.

Troutarama meeting

There will be a Troutarama planning meeting Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 5:15 p.m. at the Baldwin Business Center. All committee members, event chairpersons, volunteers, and interested community members are cordially invited to attend. also any written suggestions for this years festival can be submitted at the Wenger Insurance office. Dates for Troutarama 2012 are July 18-22. Remember, 2012 is the 56 th Anniversary of Troutarama.

FIreworks Fundraiser Auction

The Luther Days Association will host a Fireworks Fundraiser Auction on Saturday, April 14 beginning at 6 p.m. with the auction starting at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by the Guitar College and all proceeds support the fireworks display at Luther Logging Days in July. Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. If you are willing to donate a few hours of your time, please contact Marie at (231) 843-2541.

Items needed for the shelter include: blankets, razors,  toilet paper, dish soap and laundry soap.

Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. For more information contact Chrystal at (231) 843-2541 ext. 28.

Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.

Caregiver’s Support Group meets

Community Mental Health for Central Michigan is continuing their Caregiver’s Support Group meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. W.I.C. Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children - Complete nutrition program for pregnant or breast-feeding women, infants and children under five years of age. Community Thrift Center

The Community Thrift Center at 10th and Maple streets in Baldwin, south of the Courthouse, has clean clothing, household articles, and some furniture.The Center hours are Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. All donations of good used articles are welcome during hours the shop is open, ifpossible. All proceeds benefit the community.
