The movie feature at the Luther library, 115 State St., Luther on Saturday, March 24 will be “Footloose”. The feature starts at 5 p.m. There will be a door prize drawing at the end of the movie.

A Look Ahead

Grief Support group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group will meet the fourth Monday of each month from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Hospice of Michigan office, 5177 W. US-10, Suite 2 in Ludington. Note the new location! The next meeting will be Monday, March 26. This meeting is open to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a Hospice patient. The meetings are free of charge. Fresh food giveaway

Grace Mobile Pantry, together with Feeding America Food Bank will provide free fresh food on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 12 p.m. (noon), until gone. Food will be distributed in the parking lot of the Lake Township Pavilion, 15580 Star Lake Dr., Baldwin, on Tuesday, March 27. If you are income eligible, have children in need, or have a temporary distress situation, you may come and fill out your complete information on the day of the distribution. Sponsors and volunteers are from area churches and businesses, along with private individual donations. If you, your church or business would like to sponsor a monthly event, please call Sandra Pudell at 231-898-3813. Sponsors are needed. This month’s sponsor is Grace Mobile Pantry Bake Sale.

Lion’s Soup Supper

The Luther Lion’s Club will host a Soup Supper on Wednesday, March 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lion’s Club building.

The Finance meeting for the Lake County Board of Commissioners will take place Thursday, March 29 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake County Court house.

FiveCAP, Inc. Board

Commission meetings

The Lake County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Lake County Courthouse. (They meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month).

Turkey Hunters

Rendezvous

Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, March 31 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, corner of M-37 and Woodland Park Dr., south of Baldwin. Potluck is at 6:30 and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be River of Life Quartet and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Lake County Health

Service Association

The Lake County Health and Service Association will meet on Monday, April 2 at 5 p.m. at Grand Oaks Nursing Center, 600 Denway St. in Baldwin.

Bitely Better Conservation Club

The Bitely Better Conservation Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month (April through December) at its clubhouse at 15 Mile Rd. and M-37. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 4. The potluck starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. If you are willing to donate a few hours of your time, please contact Marie at (231) 843-2541.

Items needed for the shelter include: Curtains, diapers (infants to size 5), feminine products (pads & tampons), and socks.

Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. For more information contact Chrystal at (231) 843-2541 ext. 28.

Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.

W.I.C. Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children - Complete nutrition program for pregnant or breast-feeding women, infants and children under five years of age. Department Veterans Service Officer

Ray Moore, Department Veterans Service officer, the American Legion, Michigan, accredited representative for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, will be available to assist veterans, their dependents, and survivors with claims before the VA at the Newaygo County Veteran Services, 1137 Wilcox, in White Cloud, the second and fourth Monday, of each month, from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. It is not necessary to be a member of The American Legion to receive any assistance. Call the center anytime to set up an appointment or verify availability.

Women’s Shelter

The Women’s Shelter in Ludington needs volunteers to staff the 24-hour crisis line and shelter. Volunteers must be trained, but must possess basic communication skills and have well established boundaries. Support Group for

caregivers

The support group for care givers of persons with s disease and other memory loss will now be held at the Croton Township Hall, 5833 E. Division, Newaygo. If you would like to attend, but need someone to stay with your loved one during that time, please call Pam at (231) 689-2100 or 1-800-689-2100, and we will provide a trained volunteer to help you.

Community Thrift Center

The Community Thrift Center at 10th and Maple streets in Baldwin, south of the Courthouse, has clean clothing, household articles, and some furniture.The Center hours are Mondays through Fridays, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. All donations of good used articles are welcome during hours the shop is open, ifpossible. All proceeds benefit the community.

A.A. meetings

A. A. will meet Mondays, at 8 p.m., at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Baldwin and Saturdays at 8 p.m. at the Baldwin Congregational Church, on the corner of 8th and Beech streets. Anyone with a desire to stop drinking.
