Fourteen young men from Lake City High School will strut their stuff on Friday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym This is the 3rd Annual pageant and raises funds for the schools After-Prom Party. 3 on 3 Tourney

Sportsman’s Club to meet

The Lake County Sportsman’s Club will meet on the first and third Saturday’s of the month at 10 a.m. The meetings are held at the Pleasant Plains Township Hall, 885 8th St. in Baldwin. Weekend Hike

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Magoon Creek Natural Area. Magoon Creek has 1/2 mile of Lake Michigan shoreline on high bluffs and 2.5 miles of hiking trails. Take US 31 south of Manistee, then three miles west on Fox Farm Road, then 1/2 mile north on Red Apple Road to the natural area entrance. Bowling Tournament

Country Lanes Bowling Center will be hosting the 5th Annual Ted Douglas Memorial Scotch Doubles Bowling Tournament to help support Hospice of Michigan’s Mask Project 2012 on Saturday, March 17 beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. The public is invited to participate. Irish Dinner

The Lake County Republicans will meet on Monday, March 19 in the basement of the Baldwin Business Center. The potluck is at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Grandparents Support group meets

Movie at the library

The movie feature at the Luther library, 115 State St., Luther on Saturday, March 24 will be “Footloose”. The feature starts at 5 p.m. There will be a door prize drawing at the end of the movie.

Fresh Food Giveaway

Grace Mobile Pantry, together with Feeding America Food Bank will provide free fresh food on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 12 p.m. (noon), until gone. Food will be distributed in the parking lot of the Lake Township Pavilion, 15580 Star Lake Dr., Baldwin, on Tuesday, March 27. If you are income eligible, have children in need, or have a temporary distress situation, you may come and fill out your complete information on the day of the distribution. Sponsors and volunteers are from area churches and businesses, along with private individual donations. Grief Support group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group will meet the fourth Monday of each month from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Hospice of Michigan office, 5177 W. US-10, Suite 2 in Ludington. Note the new location! The next meeting will be Monday, March 26. This meeting is open to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a Hospice patient. The meetings are free of charge. The Lake County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Lake County Courthouse. (They meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month). NOTE THE DATE AND TIME!

Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. If you are willing to donate a few hours of your time, please contact Marie at (231) 843-2541.

Items needed for the shelter include: blankets, razors, toilet paper, dish soap and laundry soap..

Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. For more information contact Chrystal at (231) 843-2541 ext. 28.

Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.

The Ludington Area Jaycees are now offering the JAYS program, Jaycees Against Youth Smoking, for all area schools grades 3 through 7. This program s free for schools and provides the curriculum for teachers to take directly into the classroom. Grandparents Group to meet

A support group for grandparents raising grandchildren meets the second and fourth Monday of every month at the Mason County Reformed Church, 45 S.
