Spring Expo

The 4th Annual Spring Expo will take place on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Skinner Park Hall in Irons. The hall is on the grounds of Skinner Park on 10 1/2 Mile Rd. Silent Art Auction Benefit

The Fourth Annual C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters) Silent Art Auction by the Women’s and Children’s Support Group will be held Saturday, April 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ludington Center for the Arts, 107 S. Harrison St. Art from local artists and the women and children of the Support Group will be available for bids. Gourmet Coffee provided by The Book Mark and Sweet Delectables provided by Kevin’s Artisan Bakery will be available also. The theme of the evening is “It’s Time...to get involved.” Help say NO to domestic and sexual violence in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and our communities.

Mask Project Ball

Gospel Jamboree

The Original Gospel Jamboree will take place on Saturday, April 30 at Amazing Grace Acres Church, corner of M-37 and Woodland Park Dr., south of Baldwin. Potluck is at 6:30 and music is at 7 p.m. Featured this time will be Blue Grass Echoes and the Faith Gospel Team. Everyone is welcome.

Trailriders to meet

The Trailriders will meet on Saturday, April 30 at 6 p.m. at the Lake Township Pavilion, 15580 Star Lake Dr., Baldwin. This will be a dinner event.

Willing Workers Day Service

The First Baptist Church of Woodland Park, annual Willing Workers Day Service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Dinner will be served prior to the service. The guest speaker will be Pastor Henry Allen of Gospel Tabernacle, Covert, MI.

The church is located in Bitely on Bingham 1/4 mile north of 11 Mile Rd.

Luther Lions Breakfast

MARSP to meet

The Osceola County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 22275 Four Mile Rd., Reed City. Bible Break

Everyone is invited to take a Bible Break on Tuesday at 12 p.m. each week at the Passover House, 1210 Washington St., Baldwin. Memorial for Mothers, Grandmothers

On Tuesday, May 3rd, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Hospice of Michigan, Grief Support Services is having a Memorial Service to honor Mothers and Grandmothers that are deceased. This is for past Hospice of Michigan bereaved families, staff, and for families within the community. Those attending are asked to bring a picture of their Mother and/or Grandmother. Grief Support Group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, May 9. The Lake County Democratic Party will meet every month through November 2011 at the Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Monday, May 9 at 5 p.m. New members are welcome.

Troutarama meeting

There will be a Troutarama planning meeting Tuesday, May 9, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Baldwin Business Center. All committee members, event chairpersons, volunteers, and interested community members are cordially invited to attend. Dates for Troutarama 2011 are July 20-24. Remember, 2011 is the 55 th Anniversary of Troutarama.

Community Fellowship

Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street package

Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.

Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. If you are willing to donate a few hours of your time, please contact Marie at (231) 843-2541.

Items needed for the shelter include: curtains, diapers (infant to size 5), feminine products (pads & tampons), and socks.

Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. For more information contact Chrystal at (231) 843-2541 ext. 28.

MI-Child Program - Children ages 0-19 years of age health insurance coverage. Applications are available. Breast and Cervical Clinic Schedule - By appointment only. Call 1-800-968-7300 to schedule.

Hearing and Vision Testing - By appointment only. Call (231) 745-4663. Hearing and vision is offered free of charge for preschool and school age children by appointment.

Children’s Special Health Care Services - The Children?s Special Health Care Services - assessments, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, and coordination for medically eligible children. Call (231) 745-4663 for information.

Environmental Health Division - Questions regarding environmental programs, permits, and fees can be addressed in the mornings between 8-10 a.m. with a sanitarian. Applications for permits can be obtained by mail or at the health department from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. As of Jan. 1, 2004 Environmental Health Fees were increased. W.I.C. Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children - Complete nutrition program for pregnant or breast-feeding women, infants and children under five years of age. Program provides individual nutrition assessment that includes counseling, a monthly food package, breast-feeding information/support and referrals for other services as needed.
