Fish Fry

St. Bernard Church in Irons will host “All You Can Eat” Fish Fry Dinners starting Ash Wednesday, March 9,2011, and every Friday during Lent from 4 to 7 p.m. Take-outs are available.

Fish Fry

The Lake County Knights of Columbus will host a Fish Fry each Friday beginning Friday, March 11 through April 22 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the St. Ann Meals Center directly west of St. Ann Catholic Church on 9th St. in Baldwin. Take outs are available.

Haiti Benefit

In conjunction with the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry at St. Ann’s Senior Center on Friday, April 15 there will be an auction to benefit Haitian relief. Hiking

The Spirit of the Woods chapter of the North Country Trail Association will host a hike along a section of the Silver Creek Pathway north of Luther on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. Those interested should meet at the Silver Creek Bridge. Grief Support Group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, April 11. Dems to meet

The Lake County Democratic Party will meet every month through November 2011 at the Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Monday, April 11 at 5 p.m. New members are welcome.

AMVETS to meet

The monthly meeting of AMVETS Post No. 1988 will be held on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Post at 1959 W. 24th St. in Baldwin.

Bible Break

Everyone is invited to take a Bible Break on Tuesday at noon each week at the Passover House, 1210 Washington St., Baldwin. Troutarama meeting

There will be a Troutarama planning meeting Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Baldwin Business Center. All committee members, event chairpersons, volunteers, and interested community members are cordially invited to attend. Dates for Troutarama 2011 are July 20-24. Remember, 2011 is the 55 th Anniversary of Troutarama.

Baldwin Lions to meet

The Lake County Board of Commissioners will meet Wednesday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Lake County Courthouse. (They meet the second and 4th Wednesday of each month).

AARP Income Tax program

AARP will provide an Income Tax program beginning Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mecosta County Services Building, 14485 Northland Dr., Big Rapids. Easter Egg Hunt

Amvets Post No. 1988, Baldwin, (corner of 24th St. and James Rd.) will host an Easter Egg Hunt for youngsters through age 12 at the Post on Saturday, April 16. 2011 beginning at 1 p.m. Have lunch with the Easter Bunny. Public is welcome.

Grief Support Group to meet

A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hollister Senior Citizens Center, 1505 Michigan in Baldwin.

These services are provided to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a hospice patient. Hospice of Michigan Grief Support programs are available free of charge.

Republicans to meet

The Lake County Republicans will meet on Monday, April 18 in the basement of the Baldwin Business Center. The potluck is at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Grandparents Support Group meets

Parkinson’s Support Group

Anyone that has Parkinson’s Disease or their caregivers are invited to come to our Mason-Lake County Parkinson’s Support Group meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. at the Mason County Senior Center, 140 Main St., Scottville.The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 20. Volunteers needed

C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. If you are willing to donate a few hours of your time, please contact Marie at (231) 843-2541.

Items needed for the shelter include: blankets, razors, toilet paper, dish soap and laundry soap.

Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. For more information contact Chrystal at (231) 843-2541 ext. 28.

Hearing and Vision Testing - By appointment only. Call (231) 745-4663. Hearing and vision is offered free of charge for preschool and school age children by appointment.

Children’s Special Health Care Services - The Children?s Special Health Care Services - assessments, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, and coordination for medically eligible children. Call (231) 745-4663 for information.

Environmental Health Division - Questions regarding environmental programs, permits, and fees can be addressed in the mornings between 8-10 a.m. with a sanitarian. Applications for permits can be obtained by mail or at the health department from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. As of Jan. 1, 2004 Environmental Health Fees were increased. W.I.C. Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children - Complete nutrition program for pregnant or breast-feeding women, infants and children under five years of age. Program provides individual nutrition assessment that includes counseling, a monthly food package, breast-feeding information/support and referrals for other services as needed.
