Grief Support Group to meet A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Briny Building office suites conference room, 50 Filer St., Ste. 210 in Manistee. The group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss. There is no charge to participate. The next meeting is Monday, Jan. 9. Dems to meet The Lake County Democratic Party will meet every month through November 2012 at the Hollister Senior Center, 1505 Michigan Ave., in Baldwin. The next meeting will be Monday, Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. New members are welcome. AMVETS to meet The monthly meeting of AMVETS Post No. 1988 will be held on Monday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Post at 1959 W. 24th St. in Baldwin. VFW to meet The Peacock Post No. 5315 will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Post on M-37 north of Baldwin. Baldwin Lions to meet The Baldwin Lions Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Hollister Senior Center. VFW Auxiliary to meet The Peacock Post No. 5315 Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Thursday, Jan. 12. Dinner, Bake and Craft Sales Amvets Post No. 1988 Ladies Auxiliary will host a Dinner, Baked goods and Craft Sale on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. Featured for the dinner, beginning at 2 p.m., will be beef pasties. Wild Bill Karaoke will start at 8 p.m. Martin Luther King celebration The Baldwin area Martin Luther King celebration will take place on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at Baldwin Community Schools High School gymnasium. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. with the program to start at 2:45 p.m. The Keynote address will be given by Pastor Joe Washington. Republicans to meet The Lake County Republicans will meet on Monday, Jan. 16 in the basement of the Baldwin Business Center. The potluck is at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Grief Support Group to meet A Hospice of Michigan grief support group meets the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hollister Senior Citizens Center, 1505 Michigan in Baldwin. These services are provided to anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, whether or not the person was a hospice patient. Hospice of Michigan Grief Support programs are available free of charge. The next meeting is Monday, Jan. 16. Grandparents Support Group meets Lake County Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Family Health Care Loretta Adams-Ashby Health Center located at 1101 Washington Ave. Light dinner and childcare provided. For more information call (231) 745-2000. Troutarama date The dates for Troutarama 2012 will be July 18 through July 22, 2012. Volunteers needed C.O.V.E. (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters), formerly known as Region Four Community Services (The Women’s Shelter) is seeking a group of people willing to share some of their free time. A training will be held for those interested in assisting staff in answering the crisis line and/or being a receptionist. Women’s Support Group is every Thursday at the United Methodist Church between FiveCAP, Inc., and MI Works beginning at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed for child care during these meeting times. Hospice of Michigan Sesame Street Package Hospice of Michigan is pleased to offer the Sesame Street program titled When Families Grieve through the Pathfinder Library, in Baldwin. The kits are bilingual (English and Spanish) and include two booklets and a DVD. Particularly designed to help children grieve, the kit also is to help patients and families sort through complex emotions, remember the life of a loved one, and find strength in one another.
