Hyatt Hotels: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

CHICAGO (AP) _ Hyatt Hotels Corp. (H) on Tuesday reported a loss of $304 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Chicago-based company said it had a loss of $2.99. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $3.57 per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.33 per share.

The hotel operator posted revenue of $438 million in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $479.2 million.

Hyatt Hotels shares have increased almost 9% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $80.68, a rise of 56% in the last 12 months.
